The Choral Music Provincial Festival concluded in Cienfuegos, event which present edition was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Cascabel Project, born under the inspiration of Belkidia López Fundora.
The Awards Ceremony, directed by Richard Eleaga, started with a tribute to the composer; interpreter and professor under whose baton have been trained several generations of Cienfuegos´ artists. The event proved to be a show in which simplicity and elegance were in perfect harmony.
25 bands competed for the awards in three categories: first and second cycle of Elementary education and Senior High School education. There were also invited juvenile bands that show the solidity and development of the choral music movement in the province.
This time the festival awards were obtained by “Little Singers”(Pequeños Cantores), directed by Ana Ibis González, Chorus “Bell” (Coro Cascabel), by Belkidia López, “Vivacious Kids” (Chicuelos Vivaces) by Elizabeth Betancourt; all from Cienfuegos municipality. From Palmira municipality “Let´s sing” (Cantemos), directed by Dayana Lugones and “Harmoy”, from Aguada de Pasajeros municipality, by the duet Aníbal Ramos and Abraham Paula.
A special moment in the show was the acknowledgment to Luisa Acea, teacher of teachers, who carries music in her soul and lives in the hearts of Cienfuegos´ generations; due to the same labor, Gisela Pérez, Gisela Rivas, Rosa Campo and Antonia López, founders of the choral music movement in the province, were also honored.
