The food industry in Cienfuegos recovers facilities and technology as part of a strategy to assure productions in national currency for the population. The plant “La modelo” is an example of it.
The new plant will produce about 9 tons a month, according to the specialists of this sector in Cienfuegos. Located in the provincial capital, it spares the transportation of the product from Cumanayagua municipality, around 40 kilometers from the city, and guarantees a stable offer in the Specialized Markets net.
Abel Martínez, manager of the entity, explains that all conditions have been set for the process to be continuous; “… the work shifts are organized every twelve hours to rest three, so that we can produce some more than half a ton a day”, he assures.
This mini- industry shares space with the bakery of Pastorita Popular Council, in the city´s outskirts. “This way we optimize space and guarantee occupation for 15 workers which reverts in greater efficiency”, values the official.
With the recovery of this technology the plant turns to be the fourth one intended for the elaboration of crackers in the province. The strategy of the local food industry intends to increase its offers for the population in national currency from flour- based products and other, specified the Provincial Director, Javier Moya.
“We are also fostering the creation of mini- industries in the Popular Councils using preserved fruit harvested in the territory; we are talking about guava and others; by the end of the year we will get over 300 tons destined to gastronomy and national currency commerce”, expressed the official during the inauguration of “La modelo” plant.
With the opening of this plant the territory will stabilize a production that will reach 70 tons a month in crackers, which represents a vigorous injection to meet the demands.
