A pleasant surprise colored the first weekend of the Provincial Baseball Series in Cienfuegos, a competition that seeks to surpass in quality the previous editions.
The good news was provided by Aguada de Pasajeros team, usual occupant of underprivileged positions in the last campaigns, which began winning three times versus Cienfuegos.
Aguada´s team got scores of 2-1, 11-1 (KO) and 3-1, thanks to the performances of Frank San Martín, Evier González and Enrique Fondín. The only victory obtained by their rivals was a tight 4- 3 game, leaded by lefty pitcher Leorisbel “Poporo” Sánchez.

The highlanders got a 4-2 win. Edelkis Marín was the winner and Reinier Cantero lost. Camilche Veloz hit a homerun on the winners´ side.
The other two matches concluded two victories per team. Rodas managed to win a tight game versus Abreus, a match that was decided in the tenth inning by a homerun from Juan Miguel Vázquez versus pitcher Duniel Ibarra. Osniel Rodríguez won the game 2-1.
Abreus team paid back winning 2-0 with lefty pitcher Yasmany Fernández, who had a fitting rival in Alien Capote. Rodas team did the same, since Jorge Hernández won 5-0 versus Yusniel Vargas, but in the end a 13-3 KO was the final result. Yasmany Cruz won, Yasmany Inzua lost and homerun by Yosvany Lazo.
Another win 10-3 with Ariel González on the box seemed to satisfy Palmira. However, Cruces team made it even winning 6-4 and 4-1, the last game being a surprise, since the winning pitcher was veteran Alexander Quintero.
This weekend the match continues, with games in four municipalities in the province.
